VALE - JACK DARBY

It is with much sadness we inform members of the passing of Sale GC Life Member Mr Jack Darby.

Jack had a strong passion for golf and served as Club Captain from 1976-78

Jack spent many years volunteering his time on numerous things around the club including electrical maintenance, soil chemistry, fairway watering design and greens reconstruction. Jack also spent many years helping our junior golfers including daughters Angela Todd and Carolyn Carlos who both went onto represent Victoria.

Jack was an outstanding golfer himself around Sale, Gippsland and Victoria. Jack won 14 Club Championships at Sale, an outstanding achievement.

Jack loved his golf so much he never let a flood worry him. When the South Gippsland Highway was cut off due to floods he would launch his boat and motor through trees to a landing under the 4th green where he would begin his game from there.

Many fun years were spent around the club and there are so many great memories of Jack.

Jack will be sadly missed by the Sale Golf Club & everyone associated with Golf in East Gippsland.
