The GEG AGM was held at Heyfield GC on Sunday 12th February.

Karin Liedke (Metung GC) was re-elected as President, while Brett Wyllie (Tambo Valley) & Christine Munday (Maffra) were re elected as Vice President & Woman’s Captain respectively.

There is currently a vacancy on the GEG Executive for a male committee member. If you are interested in this position please get in contact with one of the current executive.

After the AGM, the Golf East Gippsland 4BBB Medley Stableford event was held. Thank you to those who participated and to Heyfield GC for making their course available for play. The course was presented beautifully and drew favourable comments from those playing.

Congratulations to the Sale/Bairnsdale dou of Helen Wood & Mel May who won the day with 45 pts from Karin Liedke and Gail Simpson (Metung) with 43.

South Pines GC recently elected Lucy Haussegger as President of the club.

Lucy is the first woman to hold the role as Club President since the club was formed in the early 1990’s.

An avid golfer and a regular attendee at other clubs in the area, Lucy brings a youthful enthusiasm as well as great leadership qualities to the position. Congratulations Lucy.

GEG Classic for 2023 will be played over two days (36 holes) at the South Pines and Maffra Golf Clubs.

The weekend of golf, 25/26 March 2023, will have over $3,000 in prizes with $200 for the first hole in one recorded also on offer.

Gippsland Sports Academy will be running a Golf Program in 2023 with Richard Cooney as Head Coach. This is a wonderful opportunity for junior golfers(12 to 18 years of age) in Gippsland to participate in a High Performance program.

The 3 winners of the Salvers from the final game of the season played on the 21/11/2022 at Bairnsdale. Strong wind made conditions very trying but it didn’t deter those attending having a great day..

Sadly Country Week has been cancelled after torrential rain hit the Shepparton area over night.

With two days still to play it was decided the courses were too wet and the event was cancelled much to the disappointment of our teams that had given up their free time and travelled a long distance to represent our District.

Next year the event will be held in West Gippsland.

The 2022 Country week campaign kicks off next Monday at Shepparton.

This is the first time it is being played outside of Metropolitan Melbourne.

Golf East Gippsland has entered both a Lady’s & Men’s team.
