Harrison Savage defends title as East Gippslands best
East Gippsland District Golf Association played their Championships at Maffra GC on Sunday 21st. July.
Harrison Savage of the Sale GC successfully defended his title by scoring 73, 37 for a 110 total of his handicap of 1. Five shots clear of runner up, Mark Lindford.
‘B’ grade Champion was Clint Dostine (13) who had scores of 85, 47 , 132.
Levi Sclater was the Junior Champion with 79, 38 total 117
The Fred Morecroft, best nett trophy, was won by Roy Sommerville who off a 9 handicap had 72, 35 1/2 - 107 1/2 nett.
Thank you all that played and for Maffra Golf Club for presenting the course in excellent condition for the event.

Davidsons triumph in EGDGA 4BBB
2019 East Gippsland 4BBB
A great day with 70+ golfers playing in the East Gippsland District Golf Associations 4BBB stableford event that was held at the Lakes Entrance GC.
The course was presented in excellent condition and the scores reflected the quality of the course.
Winners were the father /son combination of Peter & Wil Davidson of the Bairnsdale GC with 45 pts.

Melissa Bransdon wins East Gippsland Championship
2019 East Gippsland Championship results
Event was played at the Maffra GC in frosty early morning conditions.
A and B grade was contested over 27 holes, and C & D grade over 18 holes
The 2019 East Gippsland Champion was Melissa Bransdon from Maffra GC with scores of 79-36-115
B grade Champion was June Pusmusans of Maffra with 99-49-148.
C grade Champion was Fay Moulton of Maffra with 105
D grade Champion Marg Durant with 122.

East Gippsland Plate Results
EGDGA plate was played today in magnificent conditions at the South Pines GC.
91 players competed - with teams from 10 clubs
Winners were from Orbost GC with the team of Rob Meville (27 pts) Matt Shanahan (34) Chris Shanahan (34) and Steve Poole (31) for a team score of 101 pts.
Runners Up, were South Pines quartet of Daryl Kable, Peter Smith, Al Glenton & Earl Smith with a team score of 98pts
NTP’s 2nd Rob Donaldson, 8th John Simic 11th Mitch Blomquist 13th Matt Shanahan
DTL balls went to 31 on a c/b.

Johanna Wyllie defends World Left Handed title in Germany
Tambo Valley GC World Left handed ladies champion.
Johanna Wyllie has successfully defended her world left handed golf title in a 3 day event held in Germany. (Day two was washed out)
The events was held in the Willengen region of North/West Germany on some magnificent, though testing golf courses.
Over 200 men and women players representing 15 different Countries participated.

Olympics come to Bairnsdale
On Wednesday 8th May the Victorian Olympic Council attended Bairnsdale to deliver the ASPIRE program to 200 year 5 & 6 students from primary schools from Bairnsdale, Paynesville & Lakes Entrance. Hosted by Steve Moneghetti, 5 Olympic sports, Basketball, Soccer, Athletics, Badminton & Golf were showcased to the students with every student participating in each sport. A number of past and present Olympians were also on hand to assist and encourage those present. The golf program was conducted by Olivia Kline, (Golf Australia) who is one of Victoria’s top amateur players. She was assisted by Brett Wyllie (EGDGA Junior coordinator) & Johanna Wyllie. The Golf was extremely well received and hopefully some of the students will seek out further tuition from their local clubs & help grow the game in our area.

On the 29th April, the East Gippsland Veterans took on South Gippsland Veterans in their challenge.
In a close event, East Gippsland had an average score of 30.3 pts to defeat South Gippsland 29.2

Rounds 2 & 3 Pennant
Rounds 2 & 3 Pennant was played today with Divisions 1 & 3 (east) playing at Bairnsdale, Div 2 @ South Pines and Division 3 (west) @ Heyfield.
Tambo Valley and Bairnsdale #1 team remain undefeated in Division 1
Maffra is the only undefeated team in Division 2 with several other teams jostling for the 2nd spot on the ladder
In Division 3 (East) Lakes Entrance is the undefeated team.
Div 3 West result not available at this time.

Pennant Underway
2019 Pennant season kicked off on Sunday 28th April.
Division One was held at Tambo Valley Golf Course and it was great to see Pennant return to this great layout after many years absence. Defending Champions Tambo Valley were held to a draw by the Bairnsdale #1 team, 2 1/2 each. Orbost who played one short managed to also square their match with Bairnsdale #2 team, 2 1/2 each. Maffra showed that they will be the team to beat this year with a convincing 5-0 win over Sale.
Division 2 and Division 3 (East) was played at Lakes Entrance, while Division 3 (West) played at Sale GC.

East Gippsland Juniors on top in Gippsland Championships
The all Gippsland Champions were played at Moe GC on Sunday 3rd March.
It very hot & trying conditions players took to the course to determine Gippsland’s best.
Overall Champion was Mark Allen of the Drouin GC who shot a consistent 75-74 = 149.
Junior Champion for the 2nd consecutive year was South Pine’s Angus MacPherson. Gus is coached by Riviera Golfs, David Claridge.
East Gippsland juniors also continued their monopoly on the East/West/South junior challenge to again win the Carruthers Shield.
Thank you to all those from East Gippsland who represented their clubs and district in the event.
